Introduction

English Nature champions the conservation of wildlife, geology and wild places in England. We are a Government agency set up by the Environment Protection Act 1990 and are funded by the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

English Nature has many responsibilities. We work with a wide range of people in a variety of ways and we try to enable others by giving advice, grants and licenses. We are committed to providing a high quality service.

In this section of the website we set out our service standards, we explain our policy on providing information and we tell you where you can find out more about the work of English Nature.

This edition of English Nature's Charter was published in 2002. We plan to issue the next edition during 2005. However if our work, standards or structure substantially change before then we will issue it sooner.
