Avon Gorge & Downs Wildlife Project
The Avon Gorge and Downs Wildlife Project was launched by well-known botanist David Bellamy in October 1999. The best place to find out about the UK's Barn Owls. The Barn Owl Conservation Network aims to increase Barn Owl numbers in the wild, from 4000 pairs, to 6000 pairs by the year 2012. BOCN was set up by Colin Shawyer of the Hawk & Owl Trust after the 1980's National Barn Owl Survey revealed a 69% decline since 1932.
